After the Bicentennial Firebird, but before the Kahler nonsense of the mid 80’s, Gibson reintroduced the “Firebird” in 1980. This Ebony ‘Bird was produced on the 169th day of 1982. It shares many feature of the Bicentennial, such as small / manageable headstock, but importantly it came with standard tuners rather than banjo. Now, we often see Firebirds from this era listed as Bicentennial, but we don’t believe that is accurate. That said, the guitar is awesome. At some point, the neck was over-sprayed, which may seem to indicate a headstock repair, but I have owned this guitar since 2000 and it has never given any indication that it is anything but stable. All original pickups, wiring, tuners etc. (strap lock buttons installed, but originals included).
