The new Paul Reed Smith (PRS) Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited Edition Charcoal Phoenix with a Smoked Black Back captures the essence of legendary guitarist John McLaughlin in a meticulously crafted instrument designed to honor his legacy. Spec'd by Paul Reed Smith himself, this guitar features specially chosen woods for their tonal properties, figure, and weight. With a maple top, mahogany back, hormigo neck, and an African blackwood fretboard with 22 frets and a 25” scale length, this guitar is a masterpiece of design and craftsmanship. The Pattern neck profile, PRS's Gen III tremolo, and Phase III tuners provide a high-quality playing experience.
The finish of this model is a high-gloss nitro paired with an unfinished neck for a natural and smooth feel. The TCI pickups feature American Alnico magnets and are complemented by volume and tone controls, a 3-way toggle pickup switch, and two mini-toggle EQ switches that act as tuned high-pass filters for enhanced clarity and musical highs. The goal of this guitar is to feel magical in the player's hands while promoting a seamless playing experience that allows musicians to focus solely on their artistry.
