This 1972 Fender Stratocaster in Custom Color Walnut is an original-era instrument. The guitar retains an original matched set of grey-back pickups, each measuring between 5.5–5.69 kΩ and dated 1972, along with original pots stamped from the 36th week of 1972 and the original CRL 1452 three-way switch. The body shows the warm walnut finish (not Mocha) and has had shielding paint added to all cavities. Cosmetic and hardware notes: a second string tree was added, one tuner is missing half its post but functions, the tremolo arm is missing, and the original hard shell case.
Work performed is limited and focused on reliability while keeping original parts: the pickup ground at the volume pot was cleaned and re-soldered using a mix of new and original solder; the middle and neck pickup leads were re-soldered at the switch; the middle-tone pot solder joints were reflowed; and a ground wire previously on the middle tone pot was removed and tidied. The neck and body geometry deliver the familiar Strat feel and the original single-coil set provides bright, clear tones with vintage character. This is a solid-playing, largely original 1972 Stratocaster with period-correct electronics and practical, tasteful maintenance.
