Purchased by one of the founders of Watchtower Guitars in August of 2003 from Rudy’s on 48th St, this stunning instrument has been in his private collection and never gigged for almost 15 years. This guitar has been well loved and cared for the whole time we've had it. We have compared this to many rosewood board strats in the shop, and there is no substitute for natural breakup of vintage pickups (dated 10-21-66). Pots date to 35th week of ’66, and neck to Apr 66. This ships in its OHSC with whammy bar.
Weight 8lbs 1oz
Neck Measures .794 at the 1st fret and .895 at the 12th fret.
We think it may have had a refret well before we got it, but as you know the frets from Fender got a little beefier around this era and these feel medium jumbo. Natural wear on back of neck. Some spots on back of the body had been touched up before we got, as you can see. We are also not sure why the pickguard has an extra hole plugged up in that location, because it looks correct to us. We love the copper fade in certain spots where the finish is worn and the overall aged patina of the guitar. Additional pictures of the important date codes and pickups are available upon request.
This is a special piece that will not be easy to part with….
