This 2007 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1961 SG in Vintage Cherry is a faithful re-creation of the early-'60s SG profile with period-correct appointments and the look of a well-loved instrument. The neck is a slim, early-'60s rounded C profile with a rosewood fingerboard and 22 medium-jumbo frets; the body is solid mahogany with a nitrocellulose Vintage Cherry finish applied by the Custom Shop. Hardware includes a Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, vintage-style Kluson tuners, and nickel-plated appointments. Electronics are classic two-humbucker wiring with separate volume and tone controls and a three-way pickup selector, delivering the biting, mid-forward tone SGs are known for — responsive from aggressive overdriven rhythm to clear, articulate cleans. This example shows normal player wear consistent with use but remains in excellent condition, and it ships with the Gibson Certificate of Authenticity and the original hard shell case.
