2020 Gibson 1957 Standard Murphy Lab Heavy Aged Goldtop

The 2020 Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Standard Murphy Lab Heavy Aged Goldtop is a historically accurate reissue that pairs classic appointments with an aged aesthetic.  Gibson really made some special guitars early in the Murphy Lab process and this is one of them.  Look at the detailed pictures of all of the hand aging they did.  Built with a solid mahogany body topped by a carved maple cap, it reproduces the 1957 Les Paul specifications: a one-piece mahogany neck with a rounded ’57 profile, a 24.75" scale, and a rosewood fingerboard fitted with 22 frets. Electronics include period-correct humbucking pickups wired to two volumes and two tones plus a three-way toggle; hardware is lightly aged and the set includes the original hardshell case, COA, and Murphy Lab case candy.

The Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment replicates decades of light play wear—finish checking, subtle wear spots, and lightly tarnished metal—while preserving structural and tonal integrity.
